Stargate - Should we let it die?

With all the talk of the death of SG1 I have to ask perhaps the most interesting and controversial question that has been asked since the decision was made to invade Iraq (joke of course), should we be adamant in saving SG1?

Alot of things pop into my mind when asking this question. First of all, of what good would it be to have the season run for another 3-5 years? I would rather the show go out in a blaze of glory than fizzle into another boring and predictable show. Furthermore, is the show becoming a little fizzled now? Since the death of the Goa'uld, the Ori have proven less impressive as an enemy. The real problem there is, they are just too powerful. The Goa'uld at least could be killed. But I suppose that's where the series is heading.

Secondly, the idea has spawned of straight to DVD movies to end off SG1. I personally like this idea. It gives an aura of anticipation that all the loose ends will be tied up in one sweeping movie that I feel would obviously be fantastic.

Finally, I like other SG fans feel slightly saddened by the prospect of losing SG1 as well. For where we will turn now? Atlantis is great, but Dr.Weir and her fresh faced collegues are no comparison to Dr.Jackson and the crew. I still love Atlantis don't get me wrong, but I fear that it will never grow to the heights that SG1 did. Perhaps now its time to make another spin off, but keep at least one of the original SG1 characters along?

Maybe they can even make a SG3 based upon...well you guessed it, Captain Featherstone, Lieutenant Hunter Bailey, Lieutenant Leon Kensington, Lieutenant Ximena Manoir and whoever else I've neglected to mention. Hey, we'll give them the rights to it....for a fee of course, and we'll even let Daniel join if he wants to!

The World outside our bubble...
Friday, November 10, 2006, 03:53 PM

Time for me to get on my box and speak my mind loudly. For I think sometimes we get locked into our little bubble with our little problems and forget that outside where we live, there is a globe full of serious social ills that we cannot even began to comprehend.

For instance, my Mother's home land of Burma is in serious times with some of my distant relatives finding themselves in the predicament of living of $1 US a day. Something that I find abhorrent, but then I see some debating who should have been beaten out of Australian Idol?

I wonder why we as a people in free countries (ok so this is debatable in the US) sit back and do nothing.

I can only do what I can as a human living with a relatively average income trying to keep myself up to date with information. But I implore you to become aware of the world outside your own and perhaps if you feel outraged as much as I do show your support for political, social and aid organisations.

For me...I am an AI (Amnesty Internationl) member and proud of it. I hope that one day, their work will allow my distant relatives to have a better life...

The Beginning of a new world in Blogs....
Saturday, November 4, 2006, 10:14 PM
Welcome I say to myself, welcome. I don't exactly have experience with blogs but Griffen convinced me to start with her wonderful blog Galenty's corner which I recommend to you all. I have much to say however about everything from the War on Iraq to the overuse of pretty woman in advertisements on chocolate. These heavy and not so heavy issues I hope to debate on my blog and hope that other's too may also contribute heavily to this. However, we'll see.

As you may or may not be aware, my screen name on the FSF boards is Moulmein. I've been with the FSF for oh, around 18 months now. I've enjoyed my time here intimately. However I have other's to thank for that like Trekkie-Lizard, Leon Kensington, Alexander Wu and Griffen amongst others. Many have fallen by the way side, but still the Stargate Command Sim goes forward. Now we have Spectre which is an added boost!

My characters are many. They've indeed multiplied since being here. Dr.Rachel Zellman was first and has always appeared in various pieces of literature that I've written. So she's a long term project of mine. Who knows, maybe one day I'll write a book about her. Scarlett Zellman was sort of a side thing that started but then grew. She's Rachel's younger and more impetitous sister. Originally she was designed for the SGA7 - Twilight Raven game, but has since moved to the SGC. The Claire Featherstone came along as a Team Captain of SG3 in the SGC. She's perhaps my favourite, if I had to choose. Strong willed and very much molded on my favourite Law and Order character, Olivia Benson played my Mariska Hargitay who is an outstanding women in all respects. After Claire I took a break until someone convinced me to create a character for SGA7. I reluctantly did so and made the wise cracking and fun loving Hannah Rose. Although I spend less time on her than the others (and this is to do with her sim more than anything), I feel a personal liking to her as I am also wise cracking and fun lovingm with a serious side. Lastly I was bored one day and created Renee Lupton an introverted and unconfident Lieutenant who currently serves in SG2. Originally she was created to take the place of Scarlett when I decided to kill off the younger Zellman. But my heart wouldn't let Scarlett go then. So I have five characters..and let me tell you it's a hassle sometimes negotiating them all. But at the same time alot of fun!

Some ask (ok just like one) why I have five women. I guess my response is, well I don't know. I think the female character is alot easier to sim. Men are so straight down the line with emotions especially within the military framework. Women are more mixed up and as such more fun to play with. My goal is to have one male character sometime soon...but that's in the distance for now.

For now..I'll have fun writing for my five girls and on this blog!
