Okay, so now that SL 29 is over, what next right? Well, we begin to plan for the next adventure. SL 30 is less then a year away, and now is the time to start planning. We are kicking around a few ideas as to how to set things up to allow for more people to come, and should have a website created just for that soon. Hello and welcome to the Shore Leave Blog!!! Here you will find some information and photos from Shore Leave 29 (2007). I really hope that you will decide to join us next year! Check back here often for details on the upcoming Shore Leave and the arrangements made by us FSF people!!!!
Welcome To Shore Leave!!! This was the sign that was displayed at the entrance to the Hunt Valley Inn where the convention takes place.
We stayed at the Amerisuites BWI Hotel some 20+ miles away from the convention. It was very nice.
This is what one of the rooms looked like. The picture does not do it justice, they were very roomy and had a ton of stuff in them!
This is the indoor heated pool at the hotel. Never swam in it, but I love water. Clean water!
So who was there you ask? Well, below you will find some pictures of the various people.
FSF Lowell AKA: “Twisted Host”
FSF Esrom AKA: “Leader Of The Pack”
Jose Juarez AKA: “Trouble Maker”
Solana Xani AKA: “Partner In Crime”
FSF Eris AKA: “Lampshade Winner”
Here we are, getting ready to embark from the hotel and head to the convention.
He just looks Twisted huh?
Esrom takes a moment to pose.
Solana with that special look.
Jose playing with a lightsaber prop used to make videos and photos.
The Ladies pose for Jose.
And the door closes and we head out to the convention!
These next photos are of some of the things we ran into at the convention.
The drive up to the convention.
The place of the party!!!
Esrom going below deck to party with the rest!
He was the first guy we saw. He had a great looking uniform.
A welcome banner just to remind us where we were.
This dude was cool, and a good sport. We took his picture and made him pose.
Barak got confused and mixed up the different story lines.
But we told him and he got it right. ::smirks at Barak::
Not what you would expect to see at a Star Trek convention.
Uhm…okay….?
This dude was cool! He had feathers and stuff.
Will he hit the mark?!?
Dang! He missed! Between the eyes man, between the eyes!!!
Then we found Eris….
As a Borg!!!!
She then assimilated Lowell….
Then Solana….
Tried to assimilate Jose….
But he said “Kiss my….Because Borg are Deet De Deee!”
There is a special section of pictures dedicated to the host, “He Who Must Not Be Named”…you know who you are.

Well, lets see where to begin. Esrom and I left from Florida late Wednesday night, and drove the 17 hours to Baltimore. We arrived at the hotel at around 5 pm. The hotel that was chosen, was very nice. I would stay there again. We quickly set things up, getting signs and such made for the doors of the different people staying at the hotel from FSF. I explored the area a bit, trying to find a store that sold wireless cards for Esrom's computer, so she could get online. Silly me, I printed directions from the hotel to the nearest Wal-Mart, but not directions from Wal-Mart back to the hotel. Usually, you would figure that you just reverse the first directions and backtrack to the point of origan, but NOOO, Baltimore has so many messed up streets, that I took a 30 minute detour around the harbor to get back to the hotel that was only 3 miles away from the store. So yeah, I felt like an idiot. Anyone need a good Helmsman for navigation? ::grins:: We went to sleep that night, looking forward to the fun that was about to come our way.
The next morning, we decided to go over to the convention, to scope the situation out, and check out the vendors. They had a ton of cool stuff there, and Esrom, bought a gun. (God help us all). Then it was back to the hotel to drop Esrom off, and I made my rounds to the airport to pick up Eris and Solana. Eris made a dash for the convention, and left me with her ten ton bags filled with books. Solana got off the plane, and I was eager to see her. We loaded up in the shuttle, and headed back to the hotel. Once there, we converged on Esrom and Eris' room to do the introductions and await the final stragglers. We had some laughs, a few inside jokes were made and then "The Most Twisted Host Of FSF" showed up. We did yet a few more introductions, made some jello shots, and some screwdrivers, that for some reason went to waste. Solana and I rushed out to go get Eris from the convention, and we all pilled back into the room and talked, joked and laughed until everyone got tired and retired to their respective rooms.
The next day, when we all got up, somewhere around 2 pm, we met up in the designated meeting spot, yep, you guessed it, Esrom's room, we learned a bit of bad news. "He who must not be named" was not going to make it at all, thus his name has been stricken from all topic of SL. We all put on our official FSF Shoreleave shirts, ID badges, and such, and headed over to the convention for the Masqurade and Ten Forward. The twisted host and I stuck to the old tradition of heckling and doing the MST3K stuff. It was quite funny. We got some great pictures of the people in costume and with some of the props they had there. Then we decided to go to the hotel's cafe and have a bite to eat. Man was that a mistake. Two of us got very sick from it. I was the worse. Hugging the toilet, and never having drank any alcohol. Sad, I know. But that still did not win me the Lampshade Award. That title belongs to Eris. I will keep the details of that story out of this blog, out of respect, and also so the people who were there can continue the great inside joke that came of it. So, yet another night went by, without a major drinking party, due to "He who must not be named" not showing, and bumming us all out. Not to mention the stomach problems that had already come from the pizza.
Sunday was a strange day. Everyone knew that they had to head out. The Twisted Host and I took Solana to the airport for her departure, who was very sad to go. We missed her the rest of the day, and mentioned her many times throughout the day. She was great! It was 2 thumbs up. Back to the hotel we went, then on to take Eris back to the convention and then to hang out in the room, joking and talking about the weekend. Twisted host had to leave, and then I had to pass out. Worn out from the long weekend, and needing to get some rest before driving back to South Florida. It was lights out. Eris and Esrom talked to Josh on the phone and played music, and yelled at me to wake up. It's a good thing the did not decide to come mess with me while I was asleep, cause someone would have been injured.
Monday, the day of our departure, Eris took off for the next leg of her adventure, and we headed home. Switching off driving, Esrom and I have now made it back to Florida, and are about 200 miles from home. So I decided to write this blog while I had the time. On this trip home, we are already talking about planning the next Shore Leave, and a better way to set it up early, so more people can make their plans and attend. Lets all try to make the 2008 Shore Leave the biggest Delegation there has ever been. And certian people will be required to attend. You know who you are. We are looking into setting it up much erlier and having all the details nailed down way before the thread is posted. We figure if we can come up with a base price for the whole weekend, and have it to where people can prepay over time months in advance, it won't be so much of a strain on everyone, and maybe allow for more people to show up. So start saving your pennies now!!! I will be setting up a FSF Shore Leave Website that will have info and links for next years events, so check back. And if you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
All in all, I give it a BIG thumbs up! And no Twisted Host, I'm not the baby's daddy!!!
