Did I like the movie? I didn't mind it. I thought the graphics and stunts were wonderful. Am I disappointed they took the direction of the movie a complete 180 away from the comics? Slightly. "The Phoenix" was a central character in the movie, but central in so much as she was in the middle of the screen all the time. She never played ANY major role until the very very end when up against all odds, Wolverine sacrifices his one true love to save her soul.
Some important notes to consider: Magneto seems to be a central character in all 3 movies. Why? He was never that big and important in the comics, was he? He's like 85, too. Yes, he's a great actor. Yes, he's a Class 4 Mutant, but sheesh. He's not evil, but they try very hard to make him so. Though his betrayal of Mystik after she got 'hit' was callous and annoying. Power players shouldn't dispose of people as if they're trash.
It was very good. If they make a fourth, I will of course see that one as well. The teaser after the credits gives us hope that not only will everyone's powers return, but as will Xavier. Let us hope.

One word: BORING. I had such high hopes for this movie... so much that I saw it opening day. However, I guess the folks in Hollywood making this picture never really read the "don't do this in a sequel" novel that all good screenwriters should take a look at.
My largest and loudest complaint? They cheapened Captain Jack's character. Johnny Depp pulls anything off, so we know it wasn't his fault. If there were 30 funny things in the first movie, they took the 5 best ones and repeated them each 6 times in this movie. That's not how I roll, people. I am not amused by repeated humor. Remind me of a character's idiosyncrasies but don't spend 5 minutes on it as if that's the only thing I liked about them.
The storyline was good. I like how they've taken old Pirate tales and turned them into actual events to be played. I'm not so sure how I feel about half human/half fish creatures roaming the seas and going underwater in a boat at 60 knots but still walking on the deck as if they were stationary... but it worked.. sorta. The dark scenes with the father figure were confusing... and Davy Jones is all sorts of moody. I loved the squid attack scenes but couldn't help asking myself.. why did it take 2 seconds to rip apart ship A but its taking 25 minutes to rip apart ship B?
All in all, I am angered that they split the story into 2 movies. Was there enough for 2 movies? Maybe, but there better be NEW plots and NEW elements in the 2nd movie. I don't want to have two movies when 1 would have done just as well with a 2nd original feature in a couple years.

I didn't grow up watching Superman. I didn't even watch the movies as an adult. What's wrong with me? At the behest of friends, I watched the late late showing on premier night. The movie was fun. I liked it. More than a lot of movies, lately, but not like I know some people have.
The movie starts out with "superman learning to walk, run, jump over corn fields, throw things into space, fly, etc." This was weird. He's Superman. We know he does this. Why did we need to see a 12 year old do it? We kick it up to see him rescuing the Space Shuttle from a nose dive into a city. Very cool. Then we see him weakened by kryptonite. Does this storyline ever get old? I remember it being used in every other Superman incarnation. Nothing new to add? And do we know WHY it does it? And why does it bring him conveniently to the point where he's basically human? And if so, why does everyone beat him up at this point? Are we saying Superman is a wimp if compared to the men of Earth?
So throw a crystal into the ocean and what do you get? Rock? Rock that shaped like crystal? A large island that doesn't seem to grow in any sort of sense? And how do we get rid of it? OH. We throw it into space. Why didn't I think of that? The whole "RAWR... I'm Superman, watch me pick it up and throw it into the sun" bit seemed overly complicated, dry and nonsensical. There was kryptonite everywhere! Does it or does it NOT affect him?
And the kid being Superman's son? *blink* The next movie: SON OF SUPERMAN Yay. ::yawn::
