I don’t know why really, but I’ve been thinking about two key words lately: Honor and Courage. Really now, what do those words mean, and why should we care about them today? I seem to run across two basic groups of people, the first say honor is overrated, antiquated, and generally not needed today. Same goes for courage. The other group of people is those who still believe in honor and what it means in day to day life and strive to live courageously.
Seeing these two groups of people got me wondering a couple of things why would someone still follow something that is supposedly out of date and useless in the modern society. I will of course grant that I am looking at this from the view of one who stills believe in honor and courage.
The first thought is that in the old days someone who was honorable was one who lived by a certain code. Seeing as society has changed drastically at least on the surface, is the honor code of the Ancients still valid? If it is how does it apply today? Are there any clues to what an honorable life looks like?
::Glances at time:: Well it’s late, and I have class in the morning, so I’ll continue these thoughts later this week. Till then allow me to close with this:
May You Die Well,
