Getting Started

Salutations to those who have found their way into my humble abode. I bid you welcome. If you were not already aware of this, I am Kit'Aran Sou-Yu-Pan, and this is my Blog. I hope it is to your liking. You will find a list of the role-playing activities I participate in to your right, as well as a few comics I keep up with. The other things on your right were there when I got here but I decided I would let them remain. I picked the color scheming for the layout of this blog from a list of themes provided by our friendly blogging service. Please do click on the link at your right titled 'FSF Home' under 'Useful Links' to find out more about the Federation Sim Fleet and their emerging blogging service. I rather like the scheme. If time permits I might change things around, but for now it will do nicely. I hope all of you like it as well. So far I find this blogging service very acceptable with my only complaint so far being the lack of a 'friends' list. But, I'm sure that might be in the works, and if not it is not too much of an inconvenience.

To further introduce myself, I am the Chief Engineer aboard the USS Exeter 1706-G, Insignia Class Frigate. This AIM chat room simulation takes place beyond the current Star Trek time line, and the Insignia class is a unique and new type of vessel designed to be modular. It posses 8 modules which compose the majority of its saucer section, allowing for diverse functionality. You can find a working list of modules here, though they are currently still in debate. Feel free to comment on them.

I am also the creator and game master of another role-playing group called Niwe Dagian in which I play the priest Clark Evander. Feel free to browse the website and to check out the forum where the actual role-play takes place. Niwe Dagian, in brief, is a new world created by the players and is being continually created by their imaginations. There is much to tell about that new world, so I will leave that to the website and forum.

Beyond my obvious interest in role-play I also have an interest in comics and especially graphic novels. I have interest in artistic animation, often found in higher quality anime. I enjoy thoughtful story telling in general. I am also interested in graphic design, and visual communication. My involvement in a Star Trek simulation probably marks me as a science fiction fan, and this is true. I also enjoy fantasy stories. I enjoy them both for their ability to spark ones imagination as few other genres can, and to emphasize a point by employing the fantastic.

Regarding the name of this blog -that being 'Survival Kit'- besides it being a pun off my character's name, I felt it would do well to encompass the broad nature of my personal thoughts and activities. Life, it seems, in many ways is simply about survival. It requires not just food, water, and shelter. But we must have mental stability, a healthy outlook on life, and a general sense of well being. We must have a purpose, and goals. We must know who we are, where we come from, and where we are going. We must ask questions, and seek answers; make friends, and fight enemies. We must discover the meaning of love, and master the power of hate. And always we're struggling to survive. Thus this blog came to its name. I hope you don't find it overtly poetic, I was not directly trying for that.

Well, I feel I've written enough for my first blog entry. Feel free to comment about anything mentioned here or simply to say 'hello.' I look forward to hearing from you all.
