End of an Era

Figured this would be the best place to do this...

As of this afternoon, Vanguard: Legacy has ended its six-month long association with the Federation Sim Fleet. I'll be moving on with the game, and my tenure as an FSF host is over.

Since it'd be kind of odd for me to continue using my FSF host name and not be an FSF host, I think it'd probably be a good idea for me to stop updating the blog here and all. Not that I've done it in a while, but I figure I ought to close the door and turn out the lights before I leave.

Anyway, I enjoyed the journey with FSF even if the destination ended up being somewhere else. I wish you all the best.

Good luck with everything,
Guardian
a.k.a., Adam

Dead Falling It.

Success! I've boiled down Dead Fall's Melee Weapons List to four key weapons - swords, bats, hatchets, and knives. Melee weapons are hard to do in this genre, since almost anything applies. However, these four things have the sort of stats that can be applied elsewhere. I narrowed this down from a gigantic list (including axes, two-handed swords, batons, and the like) to keep the game simple.

This is really the last batch of simple items that we can do before we buckle down on getting character creation moving and starting up Dead Fall. Thank goodness for this game - at least something's going well.

Beyond the Dead Fall, I'm coming to some decisions about Vanguard and the FSF. It's getting down to the time to make the tough decision, and I've got to consult more with my players. Vanguard is running in a bubble at the moment - we've got very little contact or player cross-over with the rest of the FSF, so isolation at the moment is kind of in our favor. Look for more announcements on where this situation is going in the future.

Hopefully, Dead Fall will be much closer to running by the end of this week. I've heard a rumor that cake may, in fact, be involved.

So...

Just trying to get back in the swing of things...

Tried to get my shiny new Recommended Co-Host™ instated. Should've figured - I get a dedicated player with a LOT of hosting experience to apply for the job, and the host hiring board turns him down flat. Way to go, guys - the search is now indefinitely suspended.

It's Mario!

So...I finally broke down and bought the Nintendo DS. And I've got to say, I shouldn't have waited so long! It's nice to get a really old school gaming fix again - as much as I love my X-Box 360, there's something very satisfying about playing around with Mario in 2D. It doesn't hurt that's it cheaper, either (I traded in my old X-Box, PSP, and three games for about $160, and walked away with a DS and two brand new games, and some money left over).

Yes, I posted on Vanguard today. And I got my column in for 411. AND I did some work on Dead Fall.

But man...I love Mario.

Lack of Drive

So...I haven't worked on Vanguard or Dead Fall in the last few days. Hectic weekend, but that's no excuse. I'm trying to figure out what to leave by the wayside for the moment - do I put most of my effort in to Vanguard's website, Dead Fall's rulebook, or some combination of the two?

I've set some pretty ambitious goals, so I'm doing my best to reach them. And yes, this is another one of those shameless blog-a-thon posts. I'll be back with a better post tomorrow.
