It's that time!

SPRINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG CLEANING! When applied at home this process can be invigorating, it's a refreshing wash that surrounds your home makes everything smell all pretty and you feel good. WELL, it happens in retail to. At the moment we're in the midst of resetting our stores to a new "relay" which means we're changing the way it looks and where stuff's at, this time it's pretty significant. The new setup and signage looks great and I'm really pleased with the feel of the store. Best thing about it is that I get to go around to other stores and work with other staffs to help them out, it's a ton of fun. If you work as management in retail the best thing you can do for your district, area, region, etc... is jumping at the chance to help another store. The more people you meet the more likely it'll be that one day you'll know the boss better than most, or when you are the boss you'll have the upper hand on your employees.

Recruiting? Me?
Thursday, April 13, 2006, 07:18 AM
So I mentioned earlier that I've got a friend who's a Marine Recruiter, well now it's my turn. GameStop here in the North Nashville area is looking for some Managers in Training and I'm hitting the streets to find us a couple. In my journey I've realized that, in general, retail sucks! I do a lot of shopping in three places; Kroger, my store, and the internet. I never really need anyone at Kroger, of course everyone's nice to me at my store...they like working for me and the internet is of course the only place you can go shopping without a shirt on while carrying one beer around for each hand. Often you can do one or the other, but rarely both.

So, back to my point, I'm going into various businesses and am shocked by the utter lack of unhelpful people. Everywhere I went, save one Movie Gallery, was filled with uninterested bozos who wouldn't know retail if it smacked them in the face. Who's to say I wasn't going to offer them a job making more money with better benefits and a great benefits package? Ya never know peeps...be good to everyone! The Movie Gallery store manager however was great, she greeted me as soon as I entered and engaged me in a nice conversation that had nothing to do with the store while managing to drop in a few of the sales going on from time to time. She's on the list, and that brings it to 1.

The Flu
Saturday, April 8, 2006, 09:57 AM
So for about a week and a half I've had flu symptoms, but I've had to work every day regardless (ohhh the life of retail management). I finally got to crash on Thursday and it helped a lot, but still a bit under the weather. So I've neglected my good blog here a bit, sorry guys! I'll have plenty to talk about here soon we're getting pretty close to the draft and my Titans are going to get themselves a new QB!

Poe Boy
Tuesday, April 4, 2006, 08:24 PM - General
So Poe wants me to mention him in my blog....hmmm what to say? He was supposed to be one of my Marines at one point and he chickened out. That happens to the Marine recruiter that works a couple doors down from me all the time. I'd say two-thirds of his scheduled appointments are no shows and then people duck him for days. Why can't you just call and say #$^%% off Marines? That's better than leaving the poor lil' guy (he's only 5'4'') hanging! He's also less likely to snap and go on a killing spree, though not much is going to prevent that.

I'm joining the armed forces one of these days, seeing a doc about losing some weight (thyroid problems) and then I'm going in. It'll either be Air Force or Marines, wonder which one Margo thinks I should join :-p. Marines promised me a giraffe with a 50 cal. mounted on top, beat that.

Renamed yo Blog!
Monday, April 3, 2006, 08:25 PM - General
That's right, I did it...I renamed yo' blog when I added the links. Storm liked hers so much she stole it for her blog, I don't think you'll all like it that much (But Cuce Koosh should).

Edit: I had the related link as burgerking.com, but apparently it's actually bk.com...that's even funnier. Love ya BK!

Angels of Death yo!
Monday, April 3, 2006, 07:47 PM - General
I have a new sim...I will hug it and squeeze it and call it squishy. Is that how that went? I dunno, Margo said it earlier so I stole it. The boards should be going live any time now and we encourage visitor participation in non mission threads! We've got a hospital, engineers, ducks, geese and even a Base CO. That's me...

It's all Marine and once you go green...somethin' somethin'.

Boards Here, TSM Guild Here, Weird Link Here...Bat Sex?.

Tornado Alley!
Monday, April 3, 2006, 06:35 PM - General
About 10:00 CST last night I was getting ready to play a bit of the ol' Battlefield 2 (best game ever) and suddenly a power outage hunted me down and snatched my fun from beneath my feet. Following the blackout was a loud crack of thunder and, as I live near a hospital, many sirens and a night filled with the typical sounds of a thunderstorm. At that point I did what any good gamer would do, I pulled out my cell phone and began playing a lemonade stand game I'd purchased. It's nearly all text based but man it's crazy addictive and fun.

I hear several tornados hit the area and when I made it to my store the power had obviously been out as my registers were powered down (they normally stay on all night after sending info to corporate). Hmmm, it must've hit a pretty large area.
